Happy Halloween
Wow! What a great parade! We loved seeing the children decked out as well as having so many of you join us on the parade route; it was our best and biggest parade to date. We hope you also had a great weekend of festivities and enjoy some snapshots of a few ghouls and goblins.Fundraiser and Fall Celebration: This Saturday, 11/7, from 2-5
We look forward to having you here at school to enjoy the music of Chad Hollister and good company. We'll have plenty of eats, libations, a silent auction of prized items from businesses in our community, and...gasp! MVS merchandise.
If you're looking to lend a helping hand to make this event a success, please sign up for a job in the front hallway here at school.
Invite your family and friends, all are welcome!
Classroom Happenings
Infant I: The babies did some more painting this week, this time on an individual basis by using small paper bags taped to high chair trays. The older infants have been very interested in looking through colored blocks as a self initiated exploration. And, parents and families: Please send along family photos so we can post them up in the classroom.
Infant II: We've been practicing our counting by physically collecting and placing the small crab apples into various containers. We are into the routine of reading with Pete the Cat being a focus this week. The children are reading, reciting and requesting stories. Halloween has been a BIG DEAL in our classroom. Lots of excitement around dressing up and going on parade.
Toddler I: The children enjoyed constructing their trick-or-treat bags and working with the stickers (trying hard to peel the backings) and glue. On Tuesday the class had a long circle time indoors, and towards the end of the week read the book, The Mitten. As an extension from the book, the classroom animals made their way into a pretend mitten to snuggle and keep warm. The class has loved the new playground extension, it's a place where they can "weed whack" and "leaf blow" to their heart's content.
Toddler II: This week we also worked hard on trick-or-treat bags. Specifically, gluing ribbon took a lot of focus and concentration to complete. Another area where hard work is paying off is figuring out zippers. A few children have just about mastered this skill. Outside, more advanced yoga and balancing has been the trend.
T1 and T2 also did some physics explorations on Thursday which included nearly a bushel of apples, some pipes and our new steep hill. Check out the pictures below.
Pre-K: The class was excited to head out into the community for both the MVS parade and the town parade. They had a wonderful and exhausting day on Friday taking part in all of the festivities. And on the subject of community, the Pre-K has been talking about the upcoming fall fundraiser and celebration, and can't wait to attend!
